Basing House, High Street, Rickmansworth 1872
This computer enhanced image is taken from a coloured glass lantern slide,
manufactured c1890 by Newton & Co. of Fleet Street, London.
The original image was taken by Jabez Croft in 1872 before the building was extended c1885.
Basing House was the home of William Penn from 1672-1675.
The front of the house dates from 1740 however the rear goes back to the 17th century.
