Map of the Cedars Estate, Rickmansworth 1940
Constructed by the Metropolitan Railway Country Estates Ltd.,
"The Cedars Estate" in Rickmansworth had by the 1930s grown to cover over 600 acres.
Their publicity stated that "the Estate offered freehold detached residences
of exclusive designs, at prices to attract the keenest buyer, and
each property was erected under the supervision of the Company's Architect".
This layout plan was drawn by William Henry Dongworth LRIBA,
the Company Architect of the MRCE, who lived at "Slinfold",
Shepherds Way, Rickmansworth and was responsible for
the standardised Metro-land design of many of the houses.
